Restoration requirements
Other content in this section
Registrants who have been removed from the GOC register will need to demonstrate that they have completed sufficient CPD to show that their skills and knowledge are up-to-date before they can be allowed back onto the register.
Individual requirements will vary depending on a number of factors, including the amount of time that the registrant has been away from optical practice. As a general rule, though, applicants to restore their names to the register will need to make up any shortfall from when they were removed from the register, as well as demonstrating that they have obtained a minimum of 12 points over the last 12 months across domains 1-4; undertaken a peer review and obtained at least 50% of their points from interactive CPD.
If an applicant was last registered during a CET cycle rather than a CPD one, any shortfall they had when they were removed from the register should be made up of points obtained from domain 3 (clinical skills).
For more information about restoration, please see our CPD guidance for registrants.
