New corporate safeguarding policy
We are pleased to introduce our Corporate Safeguarding Policy, which outlines how we respond to and manage concerns about the safety and wellbeing of people at risk.
As part of our regulatory and charitable responsibilities, safeguarding is a fundamental part of our role in protecting patients, registrants and the public. We are committed to ensuring that those at risk are protected from harm. Our policy supports this by providing a clear framework for how concerns can be raised and acted upon responsibly.
What the policy covers
- How we respond to safeguarding concerns raised with us.
- The steps we take to ensure concerns are handled appropriately and referred to the right authorities.
- How we ensure that our staff and processes support timely, proportionate safeguarding action.
If you have a concern
We encourage members of the public, patients, professionals, and partner organisations to raise safeguarding concerns with us, especially if they relate to a healthcare professional we regulate.
You can raise a concern by emailing safeguarding@optical.org.
Every concern is taken seriously and handled with care, discretion, and in accordance with our safeguarding procedures.
